Liturgical Ministries

Every person is called to contribute to the liturgy in a manner suited to his or her unique talents. For some parishioners, this means serving in a liturgical ministry at Mass. Please consider volunteering serve as a greeter, lector, minister of communion, or usher. For more information or to volunteer contact the Pastoral Center at (715) 682-7620.

Lectors
The Liturgy of the Word is an essential component of the Catholic Mass. Lectors proclaim the Word of God at weekday and Sunday liturgies. They are firm believers of the Word of God and have great reverence for this Ministry of the Word by their careful preparation and faithful participation in the program. Lectors should not only read and pray about the readings well ahead of time, they should also work to develop their public reading ability. A good lector has the ability to bring the reading to life for the congregation.

Ministers of Communion
Ministers of Communion are authorized to distribute the body and blood of Christ to fellow worshipers at Mass. A Eucharist Minister must have a firm belief in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and reverence for the handling of the Eucharistic bread and precious blood. Eucharistic ministers assist the priests and are an integral part of the liturgy.

Ushers
Ushers assist at our weekend liturgies. They aid parishioners in finding seating in the church, take up the collection, and supervise the Communion lines. They promote good order and facilitate a prayerful atmosphere.

Altar Servers
Altar servers assist priests at liturgies. After a period of training, assignments for specific dates and times are made. Since serving Mass is a privilege, those chosen for this task perform it with great reverence and devotion. New members are always welcome and are encouraged to participate. Servers may be fifth graders to adults.

Greeters or Ministers of Hospitality
Greeters or Ministers of Hospitality serve at our weekend liturgies. They help to create a welcoming environment at Mass for all those who come to worship. Greeters extend a welcome and sense of hospitality by greeting arriving worshippers, distributing mass programs, and attending to other needs that may arise during liturgy.

Song Leader/Readers
Song Leader/Reader help by leading the congregation through songs, reading and responses throughout the Mass. Song Leader/Reader serve at all our weekend Masses.

Choir
Our Lady of the Lake Choir serves our parish by leading the congregation in song at our liturgies. The choir helps to enhance our worship by joyfully offering the gift of our voices to the Lord in our Eucharistic celebrations. New members are always welcome. The choir sings at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. The choir practices are held weekly in the church.

Folk Choir
The Folk Choir serves our parish by leading the congregation in song at our 6:00 p.m., Saturday evening Mass. The folk choir practices weekly. New members are always welcome and encouraged to join.

Funeral Choir
The Funeral Choir serves our parish by leading the congregation in song during funeral Masses. New members are always welcome.
